Review: The Strokes – Comedown Machine

As the retro cover of the New York band’s latest  LP, Comedown Machine suggests, indie kings The Strokes have created something reminiscent of their earlier works. Quirky guitar riffs and indie beats prove the guys still got it in this their fifth studio album, a relief to fans after the not so cool  Angles LP. Julian Casablancas tries out some falsetto vocals in the highly dance-able “One Way Trigger” while the album holds other gems like the opening track “Top Down”. The sound may not be as fresh as it was when they first started over ten years ago but it just goes to show the Strokes are still undeniably awesome. (RCA Records)

Oh, you think pop culture is your ally. But you merely adopted pop culture; I was born in it, moulded by it. I didn't see reality until I was already a lady, and then I was all like "change the channel".
